Dr. Susan Rothmann is a widely recognized leader in semen analysis and laboratory quality management. After developing and supervising the first Andrology Laboratory and Sperm Bank at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in 1992 she founded Fertility Solutions, leading the company as a successful and profitable in vitro diagnostics manufacturing enterprise and andrology clinical trials reference laboratory, until its sale to Ms. Bort in 2020. Dr. Rothmann's expertise includes diagnostic technology for male infertility, development of semen analysis training materials and sperm physiology. She has authored over 100 scientific manuscripts, book chapters and abstracts and has been the recipient of numerous research and fellowship grants. She is the author of two books on semen analysis and the author/narrator of four unique guided imagery audios for fertility enhancement called Fertile Imagination™. Dr. Rothmann has served in leadership roles in many professional societies including president of the American Society of Andrology, and co-authored the first College of American Pathologists Reproductive Biology Andrology Laboratory Inspection Checklist. She has considerable experience designing standardizing clinical trials involving semen analysis where multi-site reproducibility is challenging as well as in vitro validation of topical contraceptives and lubricants.
